Get Inspired by Julia

Hello, tell us about yourselfjulia

“I’m Julia. I am originally from Nicaragua and moved to The Netherlands two and a half years ago to pursue a Master’s degree in International Relations. I recently graduated and in my free time I like to keep myself busy by taking part in volunteer work, reading, practicing yoga, as well as doing arts and crafts. If possible I go on new adventures and travel. I believe there’s so much more to traveling than just seeing things. It’s about discovering, feeling and living experiences.”

What is self-care to you and when do you feel you need it the most?

“Self-care is something that needs to be prioritized, scheduled, and executed daily. Life can be amazing and life can be challenging, but every step is worth the end result.

I am the type of person that likes to stay organized and I continue going until whatever it is I’m working on is complete. I’ve realized that I would be lost without planning out my weeks in advance. Scheduling my tasks and priorities minimizes my stress ten-fold.”

What is your favorite self-care ritual?

“Part of my self-care has been to explore new hobbies. It’s common to get overwhelmed by things that are out of our control. For me, the thing that I did best for myself during the worst of times was to go to yoga a few evenings a week. I tried things I’ve always wanted to try and that made me feel better about myself.”

“The most beautiful things in life are not just things. They’re people and places, memories and pictures. They’re feeling and moments and smiles and laughter.”

Get inspired by Clarissa Dewi

clarissaHello, tell us about yourself

“I’m 23 years old woman who loves arts, whales, otters, and I like to play piano and compose songs. I’m Clarissa Dewi. I’m from Jakarta and I’m finishing my bachelor’s study in psychology. I’m currently working as a piano teacher and sometimes, I do digital content writing.”

What is self-care to you and when do you feel you need it the most?

“Self-care for me is a moment where I spend time alone with myself. I do realize it’s very important to spend time with ourselves. It’s essential for us to know what we like and what we don’t like, and that you can only find when you’re alone.

I feel like I need self-care the most when I just feel really tired from everything, from drama of life.”

What is your favorite self-care ritual?

“I used to have acne on my face and that made me depressed. So, it’s very important for me to do self-care. I love putting on face mask and follow the 10 steps Korean skin-care routine. After I’m done with my face, I usually soaking my feet in salt water while playing with my phone.

Sometimes, I get myself a massage or just read a book and disconnect with my phone. I also like to play piano, compose songs, and I like to cook. That’s pretty much what I do when I feel I need self-care.”

Do you have a favorite inspirational quote and want to share it with us?

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 3:1, 3-4, 6-8, 12-13 NIV

Get Inspired by Adriana Escobar

IMG_7841.jpgHello, tell us about yourself

“My name is Adriana. I’m 25. I’m a counseling psychologist. I was raised in Latin America but moved to Europe 6 years ago to pursue my studies. After graduating, one year ago, I’ve been focusing a big part of my life on improving my health and overall wellness. I’m always eager to learn more and self-care is definitely one of my favorite topics.”

What is self-care to you and when do you feel you need it the most?

“My definition of self-care is making time for myself to nourish my mind, body, and spirit. Taking some time off from all the craziness in life and doing the things I love. I believe that self-care is a constant thing, it’s a way of life. It must be practiced all the time.

Self-care is tuning into our minds and bodies and listening to what they’re saying (whether that means taking a pause or making changes). It’s eating real food. It’s looking after our health. It’s walking, our bodies were meant to move. It’s getting enough sleep. Don’t buy into more is more. REST. Stress is more toxic than any supplement that we’re taking can undo. It’s also taking some time to do the things that make us happy and make us feel well as a whole.

Once again, to me, self-care is a way of life and I try to implement this every day as much as I can.”

What is your favorite self-care ritual?

“Definitely lighting some candles and putting my favorite music on.”

Get Inspired by Jilly

jillyHello, tell us about yourself

“Haii I’m Jilly! I’m 24 years old and currently live in the Netherlands. I’m actually half Dutch and half Indonesian. Even though I was born and raised in Indonesia, I’m a Dutch citizen. As advised by my parents, I decided to take the opportunity to work and study in the Netherlands. It’s been 4 years now.

I am the kind of person who loves trying something new. And since I’m Indo, I’m blessed to see the difference between the two culture. I noticed that being different is unique and is a platform to try many cool things.”

What is self-care to you and when do you feel you need it the most?

“To me, self-care is how you can guide yourself into something positive, because when we bring something positive, it means we’ve done something good to ourselves. By positive I mean how we grow, build a character, and open to learn new things. You don’t have to spend money to take care of yourself, just start with yourself.

Hmm I don’t have specific time to practice self-care, because I think we have to take care of ourselves all the time. Regularly practicing self-care helps to stabilize my emotion.”

What is your favorite self-care ritual?

“Away from the crowd, in a good way though. I think it’s best for me. I like that it gives me time to reflect on myself, relax, and recharge my energy. I’m the kind of person that after meeting people, I need to take my own space to recharge my energy.”

Do you have a favorite inspirational quote and want to share it with us?

“I’m convinced that the execution is more important than having an idea”
